Life is a blank canvas, and you need to throw all the paint on it you can. – Danny Kaye
And what paint did I decide to throw on my blank canvas, you’re wondering? Inspired by my short summer holiday in Mumbai, I went with none other than neon on this one. The way I see it, we’ve all got blank canvases in front of us. It’s what we do with our canvases that really matters at the end. Some of us have splashed all kinds of colours on it, some others have neatly painted within clear lines to create a beautiful abstract and some have stuck to a monochromatic pattern. While we’re each doing different things with our canvases, none of us have left it blank, have we?
When I landed in Mumbai, it was the peak of the monsoon season. In fact, the first day I was there had such a massive downpour, people were saying it was the first time it had rained that much since 2005. And the best part? It didn’t stop me from going out on the streets of the city of dreams to see what it had in store for me!
Anything simple always interests me. – David Hockney
Whoever said some of the best things in life are free has never really met simplicity! Ok ok, so the top spot here still goes to free, but simplicity follows close behind! As you can see, I’ve got a sudden love for the coral colour. So I decided to show my love for it and give it some flowers. And just like that, I was ready to tell the world how much I love this combination!
The hills are alive,
With the sound of music
With songs they have sung
For a thousand years – Julie Andrews, The Sound of Music
I was lucky enough to have grown up with musicals. It plays a huge part in making me who I am today. And this skirt takes me back in time to the day I first watched a musical. It was amongst the best musicals ever made – The Sound of Music! I was awe-struck by the beauty of the hills coming to life through music and the magical way that your favourite things could make everything better. But most of all, I wished I was one of those children (even in those “curtain clothes”) in a midi skirt singing and dancing to the sound of music. Although this isn’t the same skirt as the musical (mine’s got the modern twist to it), it couldn’t stop my heart from swelling with happiness – the very same feeling I experienced the day I saw this musical for the first time!
